When Opposites Attract is a typographic book, which features ‘Eames Century Modern’, a typeface that shares the same character of the couple from which it derives its name. Their opposing areas of expertise and their distinct ways of approaching a problem is what led to their groundbreaking work which remains as influential as ever. In order to create a unique concept, I drew parallels between my own parents, and the Eames, who coincidentally share the similar passions as the famous couple. My father is a mechanical engineer. My mother is a painter. Although two very different individuals, it is their overlapping love for art and design that created a unique synergy.

Day by Day is a three—day immersion into the urgent and complex topic that is climate change today. In the past few years, we’ve seen how steeply the planet’s biodiversity has quickly degenerated before us. It is crucial to educate the younger generation about the effects of climate change that are already threatening our health, our communities, our economy and our security. It’s important to remember that even though, personal action is no substitute for government policies, contributions made by private citizens can create a meaningful difference.

Women make up nearly 50 percent of the world’s population, yet we’re given just one measly month to celebrate all of our contributions to society. This month was hard won, too: What began as Women’s History Week in 1978 didn’t graduate to a full 31 days until 1987. Women are missing from textbooks, museums, and statuary across the world— simply put, women are missing from history. We strongly believe that it is extremely important to communicate the breadth of women’s experiences and accomplishments.

Fast fashion has been a mainstay of popular culture for decades. But a recent increase in the rate at which we cycle through trends has sparked concern. With the rise of influencer culture, short video sharing platforms and social media marketing, micro-trends are being pushed onto us everyday. This acceleration of trends can be viewed as capitalism’s dream state; moving the fashion cycle as quickly as possible because once a trend is dictated as dead people are ready to move on to the next thing.

Charles and Ray Eames created more than just a “look” with their bent plywood chairs and molded fiberglass seating. They had ideas about making a better world, one in which things were designed to fulfill the practical needs of ordinary people and to bring greater simplicity and pleasure to their lives. The Eameses adventurously pursued new ideas and forms with a sense of “serious fun.” Yet it was rigorous discipline that allowed them to achieve perfection of form and mastery over materials.
